After three years as the Young Directors Awards (YDA), the committee have announced with support from the CPI and ICAD that they are changing the name to the Emerging Directors Awards (EDA).
The awards were set up with the aim of finding, nurturing and awarding the best of up and coming talent in Ireland today.
The awards are open to all emerging directing and production talent who fit into the criteria within the relevant categories.
The committee is made up of two CPI members and two ICAD members. Rebecca Bourke (EP at Assembly) and Ger Roe (CD at Publicis Dublin) now welcome new members Lorraine Geoghegan (EP at Hinterland) and John Kilkenny (CD at TBWA).
The closing date for entries is February 6th. Awards will take place on March 6th.
The awards night will be held on Wednesday March 6th in the Sugar Club on Leeson Street, Dublin. You can buy tickets here. The last three years has been very well attended by production companies and agencies, so it’s a great opportunity to get your work and name out in the industry.
Each category will be judged by a professional working industry panel. This year the panel will be made up of an established director, commercials producer, creative director, cinematographer and actor. The panel will award a winner, a runner up and a special mention in each of the categories, as long as they feel the work is deserving of this recognition. In the Producers and the Cinematographers category, there will only be an award for the winner.
In addition to the coveted EDA Ireland award, we are absolutely delighted to announce that the EDA Ireland winners from each of the directors categories will have automatic entry into the prestigious Young Directors Awards at Cannes.
The YDA at Cannes was established 20 years ago and pioneered the awards platform recognising and showcasing emerging directors. We are very excited to put our directors on their international stage as well as at home. To read more about their fantastic event, click on this link http://youngdirectoraward.com
